Well we want your next trip to Tybee Island and Savannah to be a fun and easy one, so we've done the work for you. Here is a list of fun events and activities for you to do on your next vacation. There's always something happening on our coast, so we have an event plan for each month! From parades, to festivals, to boat cruises, you'll never be bored when you visit our cities!
It's a new year! Take a chilling dive into the Atlantic during our annual Polar Plunge! Join thousands of locals and travelers for a refreshing splash into the sea.
A month long celebration of both love and a cultural appreciation and recognition of notable figures of the past. Come and experience our history during our annual Super Museum Sunday. You'll have a chance to be impressed with unique artistry at the Jepson Center for the Arts and walk the historic grounds of Fort Pulaski. You can also bring the kids and have a family day at the Savannah Children’s Museum. This huge playground is filled with games and mazes waiting for you to experience. And it's for children of ALL ages, so strap on your sneakers and prepare to have some fun!
March: As the days get consistently milder, travelers come out of hibernation and begin to attend outdoor events. From parades to festivals, March doesn't disappoint when it comes to entertainment! So, grab your folding chair, join the crowds, and have some fun! Prepare to attend parades like the infamous St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Irish Heritage Parade, and Mardi Gras Parade. If you are looking for a change of tone, attend the Love and Soul Festival in Forsyth Park.
April: Spring is in full bloom, and it shows everywhere you go. Bees are buzzing as bright local flowers adorn the once bare branches. Bring your wine glasses and prepare to taste a variety of international flavors at the Tybee Island Wine Festival. This event draws a very diverse crown of wine lovers, so prepare to socialize with people who share your interests! Another crowd pleaser is the Savannah Music Festival. This festival has something for everyone, ranging from country to jazz.
May: This is a month to grab your friends and family to participate in some fun outdoor activities. Take a trip down to the beach during SCAD’s Sand Arts Festival. Prepare to be amazed as you watch young artists turn sand into a beautiful work of art! Also, take some time to learn about Tybee Island during the annual Tybee Island Tour of Homes. This will give you a chance to experience the unique essence of our little island. Speaking of unique essence, prepare yourself for the Tybee Island Mermaid Fest. Dress like a mermaid in support of our local LGBT community.
June: Welcome to summer! Time to bring your flip flops, and straw hat to the edge of the Atlantic and splash around in the cool waves! This is a bustling time for both Tybee Island and Savannah, so say hello to fellow travelers and make some new travel friends.
July: Red, white, and blue paint the streets as we prepare to celebrate our independence. On the evening of July 4th, fireworks pierce the night sky and echo the cheers of the crowds below. Grab your lawn chair and join the locals as we celebrate our independence!
August: It’s party time on Tybee Island and in Savannah! Enjoy a night of music and celebrate Summer coming to an end at the Labor Day Beach Bash. But the party doesn’t stop there … head to River Street on the first Friday of every month. You’ll be met with live music, dancing, local vendors, and a beautiful show of fireworks at the end of the night. Every First Friday is a party, so make yourself at home and enjoy a night of fun!
September: Fall is in the air! The leaves are turning beautiful shades of red and orange. Music is in the air as artists prepare for the Savannah Jazz Festival. Musicians from all over come together every year to put on an unforgettable show. Don't be afraid to get comfortable and sway to the music as it livens your spirits!
October: Arrrg!! Grab your wooden peg leg, and your best pirate impression because it’s time for Pirate Fest! Become a local for a day and immerse yourself in the crowds of pirates that will flood the streets. All the fun you experience at Pirate Fest will prepare you for the next big event, Oktoberfest. There, you will find a variety of beers, food, and entertainment that will remind you of the original celebration in Germany. A notable event that begins this month is the notable SCAD Film Festival. Artists from around the world showcase their art on the big screen. Keep your eyes open, you might spot some familiar Hollywood faces!
November: Tis the season of Thanksgiving, time to appreciate the things that we usually take for granted. So, grab your friends create some memories by participating in the Rock and Roll Marathon. This race travels throughout the world to bring people together to run for charity.
December: Although there’s a chill in the air, the winter activities are just heating up. Tis’ the season to be jolly! Both Savannah and Tybee Island have a range of events that are sure to bring you some holiday cheer. Spend some time on the river and ride the Georgia Queen down the Savannah River, or ride through the Botanical gardens and enjoy a show of Christmas lights and decorations.
