First, the biggest pro: the location is great. Not only is it just a few houses back from the beach, but you can see the ocean from the porch and the view of the sunrise over the ocean was magical. The con: it’s too bad the owner was too cheap to spend $100 to replace the blinds so that guests actually could see the beautiful sunrise from the living room or breakfast table. That’s pretty much a theme of our impression of this house. This is not the house for you if you are very young or very old and have trouble walking on VERY sloped old floors. Charming, yes, but this is a fact that really needs to be disclosed up front. Most of the outlets are too old and loose to hold a plug, so good luck charging your phones. Worst of all, and most shockingly (pun intended), we opened a bottom kitchen cabinet to find open exposed wires and an open exhaust vent from the apartment below. The good news is it probably wasn’t venting anything because we did not die of carbon monoxide poisoning. But I’m VERY glad I found the exposed wires before my 3-year old did. Again, these electrical issues are something $100 at Home Depot and a good handyman could fix in a few hours if the owner actually cared. If you want to wash your hair; the water pressure in the shower is too low to do that effectively. The second bath shower is almost too small to turn around in. If you want to dry your hair, the electricity will pulse while a hair dryer is on. If you want to curl your hair in the master bathroom or plug in an electric toothbrush, good luck, because the only outlet is over the toilet and nowhere near the counter. The idiot who renovated the master bath hooked up only cold water to the sink and only hot water to the washing machine. I’m not sure how this “renovation” passed any sort of a punch list. The kitchen was too sparsely equipped to actually cook a meal for our party of 6 (no sheet pans, only very small pots and pans, most of which were scratched teflon). I want to be clear that all of these issues are on the owner; we have stayed at several other properties with this property management company over the years and they are always prompt and professional and very easy to work with.
